Adding the term (Wa Barakaatuh) in Tasleem

Question

salam alaikum. is it allowed to say "asalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu" in taslim. Because .i did not heared any sheikh adding "wa barakatu" in taslim.jazaka allah khair

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

There is nothing in adding (wa barakaatuh) when concluding the prayers, for the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) did so. He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) used to say it when uttering Tasleem to the right, but not the left. [Abu Daawood].

Some scholars hold the view that it is better not to say this phrase based on the fact that the many more authentic Hadeeths on the description of prayer of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) do not mention it.

Therefore, there is nothing wrong in saying this word sometimes acting upon the Hadeeth reported on this issue.

Allaah knows best
