Until what age does the urine of a boy remains pure to an extent that it does not invalidate ablution?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
According to the majority of scholars the urine of a boy who has not yet started eating food is impure, as Imaam An-Nawawi stated in his book (Al-Majmoo'). However, the impurity of a boy who has not yet started eating food is a minor impurity and it is sufficient to purify it by sprinkling some water over it. However, it is not an obligation to wash the place which is touched by this urine. We have already clarified the method of sprinkling water, and the situation when it is not sufficient to sprinkle water on the urine of a boy and that it is a condition to wash it; all this is explained in Fatwa 83281, in which we also clarified the difference of opinion among the scholars in this issue.
Finally, it should be noted that if the urine of this boy touches the clothes or body of a person, it does not invalidate his ablution.
Allaah Knows best.
