Fatwa Center"…or those male attendants having no physical desire" [Quran 24:31]
Question
Who are the male attendants who have no physical desires?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
The interpretation of the verse in which Allaah Says (what means): {…or those male attendants having no physical desire.}[Quran 24:31], means the male servants who have no inclination or desires towards women. For instance a stupid man who does not know anything about women, or that he has no sexual desires at all, or that he is impotent (where his penis does not harden), or whose penis has been cut. The scholars from our Salaf
have different opinions on this but their opinions are summarized in what we mentioned here.
As regards the men who have physical desires, they are men who are sexually attracted to women and inclined to them, and who are able to marry.
