Who was the honourable companion, Al-Arqam Ibn Al-Arqam, may Allaah be pleased with him?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Al-Arqam ibn Al-Arqam was among the honorable Companions . His name was 'Abd-Manaaf ibn Asad ibn ‘Abdullaah ibn 'Amr ibn Makhzoom, and he was nicknamed Abu ‘Abdullaah. Ibn As-Sakan said, “His mother was Tamaadhur bint Hatheem As-Sahamiyyah . He was among the foremost who embraced Islam. Al-Haakim stated that he was the seventh person to embrace Islam. His house was on the As-Safa, and it was the house where the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, used to stay, at the beginning of his Prophetic mission. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and those who believed in him stayed in that house until there were forty men in total . The last one of them to believe was ‘Umar . So when they completed forty men, they went out [to spread Islam].”
Al-Arqam ibn Al-Arqam took part in the battle of Badr, Uhud and all other battles. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, allocated a house for him in Madeenah. He died during the reign of Mu’aawiyah both, in the year 55 A.H.
Allaah Knows best.
