Question
My wife became pure three weeks after giving birth to a child, and she started fasting. Then she had blood discharges after two weeks from then (after she became pure), and this was accompanied with the usual pain of monthly menses. So, she stopped fasting on the grounds that it was her monthly period, but she was surprised to notice that this blood stopped after two days. So, what exactly is this blood and what should she have done?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
The blood that your wife had after two weeks from the time she became pure was menses blood due to which she stops fasting and performing the prayer. If the blood stopped again, then she should perform Ghusl, perform the prayer and observe fasting.
