Fatwa CenterConcerned about young daughter's interest in other worldly affairs
Question
I have daughter of 11 years of age. I believe she has been attracted to other worldly affairs than normal, what is the best possibly way to guide her in to correct path?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
The best way in tackling the situation is to inform her about the details of the Last Day and matters of the unseen that have been reported from the Qur'an or the Sunnah, in a way that she can understand. You should inform her that there is no need in knowing the matters of the unseen that Allaah has not detailed or revealed to us, otherwise Allaah would have informed us about it. So trying to investigate this matter would be a waste of time. It would be wiser instead to utilise her time performing beneficial deeds. Besides, you should advise her not to be preoccupied with these matters and be busy in other beneficial matters instead, like learning the Qur'an, objective and productive reading, permissible entertainment and so forth.
