Question
I shall be looking forward to hearing from you when less busy. My question is as follows: There is something really that worries me sometimes about myself. I'm a very emotional person. What I meant by this is that: I easily cry or feel very sick when I see people suffering or get killed or their houses or properties destroyed. Also people with certain defects, e.g. blind, can't walk, very sick, or in terrible pain, etc. But I always say: Have mercy O Allaah, or To Allaah we belong and to Him shall we all return. Could you please help me understand what this is all about?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
There is no doubt that being affected by the sight of suffering victims, the sick, the blind and so forth is a sign of mercy. When the son of his daughter died, Prophet 
cried. So Sa'd Ibn 'Ubaadah 
asked him: "What is wrong, O, Prophet of Allaah? The Prophet replied: "This is a mercy that Allaah has put in the hearts of whom He wills of His slaves. Indeed Allaah has mercy towards those who have mercy towards each other." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] So the mercy that you have towards other victims and other people is a result of mercy that Allaah has put in your heart towards the Muslims. We ask Allaah to have mercy on all of us in this world and in the Hereafter.
