Has difficulty calling others to Islam

Question

I have two questions may Allaah bless you all.
1) t's been a year now that Allaah got out of darkness to light and have never felt so happy in my life, and to make up for the lost years I wanted to teach non-Muslim friends about Islam I have good knowledge of the Bible since I used to studied it before and tend to use their Bible to give Du'a and hopefully guide me to Islam. I have tried everything with a friend and sadly gave up as non-Muslims as well as Kaferines (so called Muslims) started to make fun of me so I gave this friend at work a copy of the Qur'an and left it there and came to the conclusion that Allaah will only guide those he wishes. Is it right to give up and refrain from answering any questions or be patient and carry on, what is the ruling on Du'a?
2) I have a health insurance policy given to me from work, I understand that I only have to pay tax toward the policy; I had it for two years now and never used it. I feel very strong about not dealing with any insurance whatsoever. What shall I do?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

First of all, all perfect praise be to Allaah who has guided us and you to Islam, and we would never have been guided if Allaah had not guided us, and may Allaah greatly reward you for your zeal to guide people to the straight path. We ask Allaah to bless you and to make us all firm upon His religion until we meet Him while He is pleased with us.

Calling other people to Allaah is among the communal obligations and it is one of the best acts of good deeds. Allaah says (which means): {And who is better in speech than he who [says: "My Lord is Allaah (believes in His Oneness)", stands straight (acts upon His Order)] invites (people) to Allaah's Islamic Monotheism, does righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of the Muslims."}[41:33]. There is no doubt that the one who treads this path is going to be afflicted and tried, like the Prophets, may Allaah exalt their mention, righteous people and callers to Allaah who were afflicted before. So we advise you to continue calling people to Allaah and be patient about the harm that you are going to encounter while performing this task. Allaah says (which means): {Enjoin people for Islamic Monotheism and all that is good, and forbid them from disbelief in the Oneness of Allaah, polytheism of all kinds and all that is evil and bad, and bear with patience whatever befalls you. Verily! These are some of the important commandments ordered by Allaah with no exemption.}[31:17].

On another token, it should be noted that a non-Muslim should not be allowed to touch the Qur'an, or carry it. Therefore, it is not permissible to give him the Qur'an as a gift, but there is no harm in giving him a translation of the meaning of the Qur'an.

With regard to the ruling about cooperative and commercial insurance, and the principle of its prohibition or permissibility, please refer to Fatwa: 81425.

Regarding your specific question, if the said insurance is cooperative, and it is most unlikely that there is no such insurance in UK, then there is no harm on you or your employer to participate in it. However, if this insurance is commercial then it is not permissible for you or your employer to participate in it, or to benefit from it except according to the extent of the amount of money that you had previously paid the company. Moreover, it is not permissible for you to work with a company or employer who obliges you to pay tax on commercial insurance save in the case of necessity.

Allaah knows best.
