Fatwa CenterHusband being present in labour room during his wife's delivery
Question
Can husband go in labour room at the time of delivery to give moral and emotional support to his wife? Can he kiss his wife on her forehead, hands or face in labour room to ease her pain by showing affection to her, that he is with her at this painful time and loves her alot?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
There is no objection that the husband enters the labour room to give moral and emotional support to his wife. But if there are alien women in the labour room then he should not be there.
Allah knows best.
