I have a friend who is a good and kind-hearted person. The problem is he also does lot of Haram things like watching movies, listening to songs, etc. A few years ago he was a very pious person, but now I am seeing lot of changes in him. Even I used to do lot of Haram things but, Al-Hamdu Lillah, now I have stopped doing all those things. When I try to make him understand he ignores what I say and continues to do what he wishes. I do not want my friend to suffer in this world and also in the Hereafter. What should I do? How can I help him?
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {O you who believe! When you go (to fight) in the Cause of Allâh, verify (the truth), and say not to anyone who greets you (by embracing Islâm): "You are not a believer"; seeking the perishable goods of the worldly life. There are much more profits and booties with Allâh. Even as he is now, so were you yourselves before till Allâh conferred on you His Favours (i.e. guided you to Islâm),…..}[4:94].
Therefore, dear questioner, as Allah blessed you, led you to the right path and conferred you a favour that He has guided you to the steadfastness and repentance similarly it is expected that Allah will guide your friend, and confer a favour upon him to make repentance and thus he will give up the Haram acts. Therefore, do not let him alone, persist on well-wishing for him; and do not despair of his guidance. We supplicate Allah to guide him to the right path.
Allah knows best.
