Fatwa CenterYour Wives Are a Tilth For You
Question
There is a verse in the Qur'an which says {Your wives are tilth for you so go to your tilth when or how you will} , and there is a Hadith, our Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "It is forbidden to men to come their wives from behind" . May question is what is the difference between both the verse and the Hadith?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
It is strictly forbidden to have sex with a wife in her anus. The Prophet said: “Allah is not ashamed to state the truth. So, do not have sex with women in their anuses.” [An-Nasaa’i from Khuzaymah ibn Thaabit, and as-Suyooti classified it as Hassan]
Another Hadeeth reads: “Whoever has sex with his wife in her anus is cursed.” [Abu Daawood from Abu Hurayrah, Al-Albaani classified it as sound]
As for the Quranic verse in which Allah Says (what means): {Your wives are a tilth for you…} [Quran 2:223], then there is no contradiction between it and the above-stated Hadeeth. In fact, it means that one is allowed to have sex with his wife in her vulva, whether one may introduce his penis from the backside or front side direction. The above-verse was revealed to refute the Jewish claim that a child will become cross-eyed if one has sex with his wife from the backside direction as mentioned above.
In other words, both ways are allowed as long as one inserts his penis in his wife’s vulva (vagina).
