Question
What about using empty wine-whisky-bottles for soft drinks at home or olive oil for example.Thank you.
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
It is legal to use empty wine bottles for Halal drinks after washing them, since utensils are Halal unless Shari'a rules otherwise. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "Use all utensils for drinking, but drink not wine." [ Bukhari and Muslim ]
However, it is better and safer to avoid using wine bottles, because using such bottles may make people doubt if they contain wine or not. So, one who avoids using such bottles, in fact keeps himself and his honor safe.
And a Muslim is required to avoid what raises doubt. In the same vein, the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said when two of his companions passed by him and a woman was with him: "Halt (and do not move further). This is my wife Safiya, the daughter of Huyae." His two companions said: 'O Allah's Messenger! Subhana Allah (we do not have doubt).' He (SAW) said: "The devil floats inside the body of a man along with the circulation of blood." [ Bukhari and Muslim ]
