Question
My mother suffers from asthmatic health problem. This causes diffulties in fasting. Is she allowed to use the inhaler which contains medicine? Would this nullify her fast?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
It is apparent to us that using the inhaler pump for asthma invalidates the fast, since the medicine melts and reaches the throat and then, no doubt, it will enter the stomach. So, a person who needs to use it, a need similar to the one of any other sick person to use eatable or drinkable medicine during daytime in Ramadan, he may break the fast and make it up another day.
We issue this Fatwa since the majority of Muslim scholars believe that anything which melts and reaches the throat enters the stomach, and anything which reaches the stomach deliberately through the mouth invalidates the fast.
