Aslam O Alikum This year I am planning for Ummrah in Ramadhan. I like to perform one Ummrah each for Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) Abu Bakr (Siddique) Umar (Khattab) Usman (Ghani) and Ali (Murtaza) (may Allah promote their souls and rest them in peace) This I like to do to pay my gratitude towards them for their services to Allah and to Ummah. I know I am a sinful Muslim, but as I love them very much and don't ask anything for myself, but try to honor these Companions of Prophet. Before doing anyhting like that I ask you, can I do that. I am conscious if this is okay becuase I do not want anything which would effect the reputation of prophet and his companion. I know my Ummrah for them may be nothing but still can I try this ? Jazak Allah.
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
We ask Allah to make easy for you what you have intended of the good deeds, accept our good deeds and yours.
We give you the good news that your love for the Prophet is among the hopeful deeds before Allah, your love of his companions and all righteous people is also among the good deeds.
It is narrated in Sahih Muslim on the authority of Anas He said: "A person came to Allah's Messenger (May peace be upon him) and said to Allah's Messenger: When would be the Last Hour? Thereupon he (the Prophet) said: What preparation have you made for the Last Hour? He said: The love of Allah
and of His Messenger (is my only preparation). Thereupon he (the Prophet) said: You would be along with one whom you love. Anas said: Nothing pleased us more after accepting Islam than the words of Allah's Apostle: You would be along with one whom you love. And Anas said: I love Allah and His
Messenger and Abu Bakr and Umar, and I hope that I would be along with them although I have not acted like them." It is narrated in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim that a man came to Allah's Messenger and said: "O Allah's Messenger! What do you say about a man who loves some people but cannot catch up with their good deeds?" Allah's Messenger said: "Every one will be
with those whom he loves (in paradise).
As for your performing Umrah on behalf of the Prophet, he does not need it because Allah has forgiven his faults of the past and all that follows. This practice is not narrated from any companion of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon him), though they sacrificed their lives and wealth for him and they loved the Prophet more than anyone who came after them.
As for your Umrah on behalf of the four righteous Caliphs, we did not find any Scholar who had discussed this issue. No doubt that they will be in paradise, other dead Muslims need this more than the four Caliphs.
The Muslim Scholars differed over the issue of performing Umrah on behalf of a dead person. Some of them permitted it while others did not. Other Scholars disliked it, while some others permit it, only on behalf of a dead person who did not perform Umrah in his life.
No doubt that all four Caliphs performed Umrah. Therefore, probably it is better for you to avoid performing it on behalf of them.
The compulsory right of the Prophet on every Muslim is to believe in him, accept his teachings, follow him, obey him and to ask peace and blessings of Allah for him as much as one can. The compulsory right of four Caliphs in particular, and the right of the companions in general, is to love them, be
grateful to them for what they had done for the support of Islam and the Prophet.
Allah knows best.
