Fatwa Centeral-Awrah of the male
Question
Assalamu alaykum what is the opinion of the Islamic Fiqh schools about the boundary of (al-Awrah) for male? jazakum Allah khayran
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
The majority of the Muslim Scholars are agreed that the 'Awrah of a male is from navel to knee, including the thighs. The Prophet in a sound Hadeeth said: “Do not uncover your thighs, and do not look at the thighs of a live or a dead person”. It is also narrated that Jurhud 
said: "The prophet passed by me while I was wearing a cloak which did not cover my thigh; he said: "Cover your thigh, for it (is part of the) 'Awrah." This opinion is the prevailing view.
