What is my obligation as a Muslim man if I marry a divorcee who has a son from her ex husband? My wife moved to my house after the marriage
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Each spouse has rights over the other. Allah the Almighty says: {And they (wives) have rights similar to those (of husbands) over them in kindness.} [Qur’an 2:228]
Among the rights of a wife over her husband are that he treats her with kindness, fulfills her needs for chastity according to her desire and his ability, provides for her in a fair manner, ensures suitable housing for her, and gives her the dowry she is entitled to.
Furthermore, if a husband treats his wife's child from a previous marriage with kindness and gives him shelter, it is a virtuous act that carries great reward, especially if the child is in need. Allah, the Most High, says: {And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.} [Qur’an 2:195]
Allah knows best.
