Ruling on the Promise made to Allah

Question

I want to ask a question based on making a promise to Allah. I made a promise to Allah that I will never make out with a male again but a male pecked on the neck I did not know he was going to do that and I did not like what he did. I want to know if I have broke my promise with Allah

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

If you did not do what you promised Allah not to do, which is going out with a man [or kissing them], and according to the meaning that you meant, then you did not break your promise; therefore, you are not sinful.

It should be noted that the scholars differed in opinion about the promise made to Allah whether or not it is a vow.

You should know that it is better for a woman to stay in her home, so she should not go out unless it is necessary for her (to do something indispensable). She is better off when she is in her home: she does not cause temptation to men and she will not be tempted by them.

Allah Says (what means): {And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance.} [Quran 33:33]

Ibn Katheer may Allaah have mercy upon him said in his Tafseer: “It means, stay in your houses and do not come out except for a purpose.” [End of quote]

If you go out for a need, then you should wear your Hijaab because Hijaab gives the woman respect and dignity that prevent dissolute men to get in her way.

Allah Says (what means): {O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful. .} [Quran 33:59]
As-Sa’di may Allaah have mercy upon him said in his Tafseer:

The verse is evidence that there is harm if they do not wear the Hijaab, because if they do not wear the Hijaab people would think that they are not chaste, so those in whose heart is a disease, will get in their way…..so the Hijaab prevents those who wish to do evil with them.” [End of quote]

If you are in a corrupt environment, then avoid walking alone in the streets, and if you are accompanied by your husband or a male Mahram who would be feared, then it is better.

Allah knows best.
