I am a young man and I prevent my sisters from contacting young men. Unfortunately, however, my father opposes my actions and sometimes I raise my voice at him. What should I do?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
What you are doing is good as you are, giving advice to your sisters and preventing them from calling young men and establishing relationships with them. This is encouraging good and forbidding evil. Therefore, we admonish you to continue advising them.
If your sisters actually do this then you should prevent them as much as you can, regardless of your father’s opposition, as there is no obedience to a creature in disobeying The Creator.
However, you should control yourself and avoid raising your voice at your father in order to avoid being undutiful to him. If it happens unintentionally that you raise your voice at your father while you argue with him about this matter, then we ask Allaah The Exalted not to hold you accountable for this.
