Question
Is it permissible to say after the Iqaamah: “Allaahumma Rabba haathihid-da‘watit-taammati was-salaatil-qaa’imati, ’aati sayidina Muhammadanil-waseelata wal-fadheelata wad-darajatir-rafee‘atil-lati wa‘adtahu, ’innaka laa tukhliful-mee‘aad" (i.e. O Allaah, Lord of this perfect call and established prayer. Grant our leader, Muhammad, intercession and favor and Raise him to the high station You Promised him, verily, You do not neglect promises) or should we not say: ’innaka laa tukhliful-mee‘aad (Verily, You do not neglect promises)? May Allaah The Almighty Reward you the best.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
It is prescribed when a Muslim hears the Athaan to repeat the call of the Mu’ath-thin (as he calls it). After this, he should mention the Athkaar that our dear questioner had mentioned. The prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, commanded this as it is reported in Saheeh Al-Bukhari and the like.
This should be said after the Athaan and Iqaamah. There is no harm if one confines himself to the narration of Al-Bukhari or adds to it ’innaka laa tukhliful-mee‘aad (i.e. Verily, You do not neglect promises) for it is reported in another narration by Al-Bayhaqi.
Ad-darajah Ar-rafee’ah (i.e. the high station) was reported from Al-Mubaarakfoori in Tuhfat Al-Ahwathi from Al-Qaari in Al-Mirqaah: “Al-Bukhari 
said (regarding adding Ad-Darajah Ar-rafee’ah) that is very well known among people but I have never seen it in the books of narrations.”
Accordingly, a Muslim should confine himself to what is authentically reported from the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.
