Fatwa CenterPurifying impure clothes without washing machine
Question
Assalaamu alaykum. What is the method of purifying impure clothes if there is no washing machine and they are to be hand-washed? Should each article of clothing be dipped into water while changing the water each time? Please shed some light on this issue. May Allaah reward you.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
The method of purifying clothes is by pouring water on the place that has become impure and inundate it with water until the impurity disappears.
As for dipping the clothes in a little bit of water, then, according to the view of the majority of scholars, this will lead to rendering the water impure, and thus, the water becomes useless and unfit for use afterwards.
Therefore, it is obligatory to pour water on the impurity until it is removed, and not the opposite.
