Question
My question is the following; there is a hadith of Ibn 'Abbaas, may Allaah be pleased with him, in which one person came and asked him about masturbation and he turned in dislike and and said, "Marrying a slave girl is better than that, and it is better than fornication." My question is: is this hadith authentic? Please answer this question.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
The report that you asked about was cited by ‘Abd Ar-Razzaaq 
in his Hadeeth collection Al-Musannaf. It was also cited by An-Nasaa'i in his book As-Sunan Al-Kubra, and he commented on it, saying, “It is Mursal (has an incomplete chain of transmission) and Mawqoof (stops at the level of the Companion).”
The report was described as saheeh (sound) in the book titled Ma Sahha min Aathaar As-Sahaabah fi Al-Fiqh written by Zakariyya ibn Ghulaam Al-Pakistaani .
