Question
Is concealing the ‘Awrah stipulated in calling the Athaan?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
It is not stipulated for the validity of the Athaan (i.e. call for prayer) that the Mu’athin (i.e. one who calls to prayer) has to conceal his ‘Awrah (i.e. from the navel to the knees for a man and the entire body for a woman) while calling the Athaan. Imaam Zakaryaa’ Al-Ansaari 
in Asnaa Al-Mataalib: “The Athaan and Iqaamah of one who is Junub (i.e. in a state of ritual impurity) are valid even if one is in the mosque and his ‘Awrah is exposed. Doing something prohibited does not affect other things because what is meant (by the Athaan) is the declaration (that it is time for prayer) and it was done while the prohibition was for another thing, which is the sacredness of the mosque and exposing one’s ‘Awrah."
