Question
Assalaam alaykum Brother. I was just wondering if you could tell me whether this hadith is authentic, good, weak, or fabricated. Um Salamah, may Allaah be pleased with her, narrated that she said to the Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, “O Messenger of Allaah, are the women of this world superior or the houris (of Paradise)?” He replied, “The women of this world will have superiority over the houris just as the outer lining of a garment has superiority over the inner lining.” Um Salamah then asked, “O Messenger of Allaah, what is the reason for this?” He answered, “Because they performed the prayer, fasted, and worshipped [Allaah]. Allaah will put light on their faces and silk on their bodies. [The human women] will be fair in complexion and will wear green clothing and yellow jewelry. Their incense-burners will be made of pearls and their combs will be of gold. They will say, ‘We are the women who will stay forever, and we will never die. We are the women who will always remain in comfort, and we will never undergo difficulty. We are the women who will stay, and we will never leave. Listen, we are happy women, and we will never become sad. Glad tidings to those men for whom we are and who are for us.’” [At-Tabaraani]
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
This hadeeth is weak. Ibn al-Qayyim said about it, “Sulaymaan ibn abi Kareemah was the only one who narrated it, and Abu Haatim classified it as weak.”
Ibn ‘Adiyy said, “All the ahaadeeth narrated by him are weak, but the former scholars did not comment on him.” Then he mentioned this hadeeth narrated by him and said, “This is the only chain of narration that it is known by.”
Besides, Al-Haythami said in Al-Majma’, “It was reported by At-Tabaraani in Al-Awsat and in Al-Kabeer, like this, and the chain of narration in Al-Kabeer is already mentioned in the Chapter of Soorah Ar-Rahmaan, and its chain of narrators includes Sulaymaan ibn Abi Kareemah, and he is weak.”
