A repentant adulterer will not be deprived of Houris

Question

Will adulterers be deprived of Houris in Paradise? Does this apply if they repent?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

Adultery is major grave sin that brings about the severe punishment of Allaah the Almighty. Allaah the Almighty Says (what means):

· {And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty. Doubled will be the torment for him on the Day of the Resurrection, and he will eternally (abide) therein degraded. Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.} [Quran 25:68-70].

· {And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way.} [Quran 17:32].

There is no authentic Hadeeth, as far as we know, to indicate that an adulterer will be deprived from the Houris (maidens of Paradise) in Paradise if he acknowledges his sin. The authentic Hadeeths stipulate that repentance obliterates a sin, as if it did not exist at all. [Ibn Maajah. Saheeh (Authentic): Al-Albaani].

It is, however, reported that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, warned that an alcohol drinker will be deprived of such drinks (that do not intoxicate) in Paradise unless he repents. [Muslim]

Allaah Knows best.
