Question
What are the scholars’ sources when they narrate reports about the creation of Aadam (Adam), may Allaah exalt his mention, and the beginning of the creation of the universe?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
There are two groups of scholars that mention such reports: the first group uses the Quran, the commentary of the Companions and the righteous predecessors about it, the authentic Hadeeths, or Israelite reports that conform to Sharee‘ah or do not contradict it. This is the correct methodology in narrating such reports.
The second group rely on inauthentic and fabricated Hadeeths and the Israelite reports that contradict the Sharee‘ah and logic. This is the incorrect methodology in this regard.
