As Salaamu Alaykum, I understand that it is forbidden for a Muslim to wear a cross. I use AutoCAD (I do not know whether you are familiar with this programme but I use it to design building plans and the like). Now the cursor (mouse pointer) of it turns to a cross when drawing lines – most likely to make line placement more precise. Is this permissible since it’s not intended to be used to glorify the Christians or represent them.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that not every two crossing lines are considered a cross. The cross (crucifix) is only what resembles the human who is crucified. This is as Shaykh ‘Abd Al-Muhsin Al-‘Abbaad explained in Sharh Sunan Abi Daawood.
If you mean that this cursor looks like the plus (+) symbol, then this is not considered a cross. But if you find the known symbol of the crucifix, you must change it, as it is a symbol of disbelief. This is a simple matter, as changing the cursor is something possible to do, so consult someone who knows how to do this (if you do not know how to do so yourself).
Allaah Knows best.
