Question
A few weeks ago, my older brother bought a new computer with a pre-installed pirated software. He forces me to use those software (not open source software)if I accidentally need an internet mean. He doesn't want to buy the genuine software. I have the responsibility to keep the PC harddrive from the errors (that may be occurred because of a long term non-active conditions) by turning on (and only turning on) the computer twice a week (not using it at all). Can I do it? Is i'm sinful if I do it?Thanks.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
You are not sinful for only using the computer without using the pirated software that is in it.
