Fatwa CenterDenying that Jinns possess humans
Question
Some people, may Allaah guide them, deny the existence of the Jinn and deny Quranic therapy. Meanwhile, some satellite channels focus on this topic and deny the fact that the Jinn are able to cause seizures to a human being and possess his body. They claim that Jinn are only able to whisper to humans but seizures, according to them, are illogical. How can their claim be refuted?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
It has been proven through the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, that the Jinn are capable of possessing the body of a human, and this fact is further supported by real life experiences, old and new. Consequently, denying it means rejection of the Quran and the Sunnah on one hand and obstinacy against reason and sensation on the other. However, the reason behind this rejection may be misconception, incorrect deduction from texts, secularism or any other reason. For more benefit, see Fataawa 12589 and 607.
