Fatwa CenterPutting an Internet coverage machine on one’s building’s roof
Question
Salamualaikum,my question is we live in canada and we have a appartment building in our country and a internet company ask us if they could put their internet coverage machine on our roof top and my question is are we going to get the sins for those who will be using the internet in a wrong way
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
The Internet is a double-edged sword, so it might be used for good and beneficial purposes and it might also be used for evil and harmful purposes. The Sharee’ah rule about such a matter is that in principle it is permissible as long as one does not know or does not predominantly think that it will be used in what is forbidden, in which case, it would be absolutely forbidden to help in it as Allaah Says (what means): {Help you one another in virtue, righteousness and piety but do not help one another in sin and transgression.} [Quran 5:2]
Therefore, it is permissible for you to allow the mentioned company to put its Internet coverage machine on the roof of your building, and if some Internet users use it in a wrong way, then you are not sinful based on the fact that this act is, in principle, permissible (unless proven otherwise).
