Question
Dear Sir, Assalamualikum,
My name is Raza Ahmed and I work in Dubai as Property consultant, I got married in 24th October 2007 with my parents wish and they became very happy, after marry I got very good deals and I made so much money, since last year July 2009 I am very much upset because after July 2008 I didn’t sale any property till October, in October I sold 1 apartment then no deal till January, in January till march I did good deals then again for 2 months till June there were no deal, after may I hardly close only 1 small deal, I got cancel of some important property I sold in 2008 and I lost about 52% money which I made from selling, I don’t understand I always try to help people, I always pay charities and as I know if you will give charities your income will not effects it will increase but my income is distressing, my wife is pregnant and her delivery date is in September, please tell me what is the problem with me and when it will finish, my mother she said that if Allah is giving baby boy to some one he will face many problems and it will clear near baby arrive in this world, i am very upset, because what i got i lost, i always use my money to help people or on my family, mother , father, wife, i am very upset please pray for me and tell me when it will finish, i will be happy again, waiting for your reply, thanks and Jazak allah Khair,
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
We ask Allaah The Almighty to alleviate your troubles and facilitate your affairs. You know that life is a place of trial where Allaah tests the believer with good and with evil, and each state of the two has its own worship. A Muslim shows gratitude in times of prosperity and patience in times of affliction. To learn about the merit and importance of patience, see Fatwa 83577. In fact, discontentment does not change what has already happened, nor does it ward off what will happen. On the contrary, it increases one's regret and sorrow. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: "When Allaah loves a people, He tries them; whoever is satisfied will get satisfaction, and whoever is discontented will get displeasure." [At-Tirmithi and Ibn Maajah]
However, affliction may strike someone as a punishment for a sin he committed or as a trial. So, a Muslim should not preoccupy himself with the past, but he has to think how to get out of this affliction by supplicating Allaah often, seeking His forgiveness and utilizing the lawful means available. When he finds it hard to earn sustenance through a particular work, he should try another. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: "Adhere to that which is beneficial for you, seek help from Allaah and do not lose heart." [Muslim]
As to the time when this dilemma will be over, it is a matter of the unseen that only Allaah knows. You may console yourself by knowing that this is a general crisis from which all people suffer.
On the other hand, the Hadeeth that reads: "Charity does not diminish one's money," is authentic and was narrated by Muslim. Some scholars interpreted it to mean blessing one’s money and protecting it from plight in the worldly life, or multiplying his reward in the Hereafter. Therefore, Allaah may bless your money in this life and make you earn manifold after this crisis. Perhaps Allaah The Almighty has removed greater harms from you which might have afflicted your money, or that He stored the reward for you in the Hereafter. The most important thing is that you leave the whole matter to Allaah and do not bother yourself thinking about it. Additionally, a Muslim has no right to consider his righteous deeds as a favour to Allaah, because it is Allaah Who has the right to consider His bounties as a favour to His creation.
As to what your mother said about the baby boy, we do not know any evidence about it.
Again, we stress that you maintain patience and you will find its good consequences – Allaah willing. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, advised his cousin Ibn ‘Abbaas 
saying: “Know that victory comes with patience, relief follows trouble, and hardship is followed by ease." [Ahmad]
