Ruqyah is effective only by the Will of Allaah

Question:

How can I treat my mother who suffers from epilepsy, noting that she has been receiving Ruqyah treatment sessions for three months now but in vain?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

You should be aware that it is not a strange matter that Ruqyah may be ineffective because it is not intrinsically successful. It is only effective by the Will of Allaah when He wishes.

Recovery may also be impeded because of the person who does Ruqyah. This person may have unsound doctrine or lack a perfect reliance on or certainty in Allaah. Moreover, ineffectiveness may be in the interest of the patient: there may not be a benefit behind their recovery, or the disease may be one of those afflictions that a believer experiences in this worldly life that will become a reward for them in the hereafter.

Allaah Knows best.
