Question:

my question is about traveling for women. I am 47-years-old, and I give lessons about Islam to girls and woman. For this reason I travel once a month about 50 km from my home to another city without a Mahram. Is that allowed or do I do something Haraam? I know of course that it is prohibited for women to travel without Mahram, but I just want to know if my traveling with the purpose to teach Islam is okay or not?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

May Allaah bless you, accept your good deeds and increase your zeal in spreading and teaching Islam.

Dear sister, as long as your lessons require traveling a distance which is considered according to the customs of the residents of that area as traveling then all the rulings of traveling apply and thus should be adhered to. We think that the purpose of teaching Islam is not a necessity that permits you to violate Islamic rulings.
