Question:

I fast and I pray everyday during Ramadan. I made a huge mistake today, I slept with a girl so I can punish her for disrespecting me. "But it wasn't rape" and I would like to know what I should do to correct my mistake and get back to the right path. I feel sorry and bad for what I have done and I would like to hear an advise from you, I don't know if God will still except my fasting and prayers.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Ramadan is a holy month that must be highly respected. Allah forbids to Muslims lawful things like eating and drinking during Ramadan daytime. These are lawful things that become unlawful in Ramadan. So, the prohibition of things that are normally unlawful becomes more emphatic in Ramadan. Now, you should repent to Allah from this dreadful sin.

The conditions of repentance are:

(1) Giving up the sin,

(2) Feeling deep regret for committing it,

(3) Having firm resolution not to commit it again.

As for the prayer and the fasting they are valid unless the person does something that nullifies them. For instance, if someone ejaculates while fasting, their fasting is invalidated and they have to make up for that day, and if someone has pre-seminal discharges (like Madhi) it would be more appropriate for him/her to fast a day instead of the missed one as there is a disagreement of scholars over this issue. Some consider Madhi one of the things that invalidates fasting while others disagree with that opinion. Finally, we advise you to stay away from this girl and cut all relations with her as she is a non-Mahram to you.

Allah knows best.
