Question:
I am from Riyadh City. Can I put on Ihram Uniform And Leave Directly To Haaj From Riyadh Without Stopping At Meqat?
Answer:
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
It is permitted for you to put on the Ihram from your house. Ihram means intention of entering in the state of Ihram. However, it is likeable to take a bath in Meeqat and then make intention to start the rites of Umrah or Hajj. Imam Tirmizi reported from Zaid Bin Thabit that he saw the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) take a bath, change his clothes and put on the garments of Ihram.
It is known that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) and his companions entered in the state of Ihram from Meeqat.
If you wear Ihram before the point of Meqaat, though it is allowed you will miss the Sunnah.
It is reported from al-Athram that Imran bin al-Husain entered in the state of Ihram from al-Basara (a city in Iraq). When Umar (RAA) was informed about it he got angry and said: "it is not reasonable to know the people that one of the companions of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) entered in the state of Ihram from al-Basarah." Likewise, Usman (RAA) disapproved of a person who had worn Ihram from Khurasan, or Kirman. The author of al-Uddah said: 'it is dislikeable to wear Iharm before the Meeqat since a person might commit what is forbidden during Ihram or at least it causes unnecessary hardship for him.'
Know that passing the point of Meeqat without Ihram is forbidden. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said after fixing the certain places for Ihram: "These places are for the people (coming from the above specified countries) as well as for others who pass by them on their way to perform Hajj or Umrah. [ al-Bukhari and Muslim ]
We ask Allah to grant you and us a blessed Hajj.
Allah knows best.
