Giving vegetables as sadaqa

Question:
Is it good to give the sadaqa vegetables?
Answer:
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
It is a good deed to present vegetables as Sadaqa (charity). Allah says: {And whosever does good equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant) shall see it.} [99:7]
The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "Keep yourself away from the Hell-fire even if you give a half-date as Sadaqa" [ Bukhari ]
But, such an action is not an obligatory Zaka'h, since vegetables are not subject to Zakah unless they are sold and their value becomes part of one's wealth, which is subject to Zakah on each and every Hijri year in case its value equals 85 grams of gold and this value is possessed for one lunar year, whether we add this value to our wealth or not.
Allah knows best.
