Reciting Qur'an in other than Arabic
2-7-2002 | IslamWeb
Question:
Is it alright to read the Surah YaSin in Romanised language?
Answer:
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
It is not permissible to recite the Qur'an written in Roman alphabet or any other alphabet except Arabic.
There is no difference in this rule between the one who can read the Qur'an in Arabic and the one who cannot, whether the person is praying or not.
This is the opinion of the majority of Muslim scholars ( Malik , al-Shafi'e , Ahmad , Dawood and others).
Allah knows best.
