It is forbidden for both sexes to have affectionate relationship with the opposite sex (i.e. with a non-Mahram woman/man).
Whosever is put to trial by this, he/she must repent to Allah Almighty, ask Him for forgiveness, and conceal his sin.
He/she shouldn't inform his/her parents or anyone about this prohibited act. Also, the Prophet said: “All the sins of my Ummah (nation, followers) will be forgiven except those who commit sins openly or disclose their sins to the people.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Allah knows best.
