All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
This act is no more than a superstition and there is no evidence for it in the Sharee’ah. It is nothing but whispers of the devil which he whispers to the Muslims, or that it is among the innovations of some ignorant Muslims.
The glorification of Allah should be by practicing His Commands, keeping away from His Prohibitions, fearing His Punishment and seeking His Reward and Paradise.
The glorification of Allah should be by honoring His Book, reciting it precisely and applying it in real life.
The glorification of Allah should be by respecting His Messengers, may Allaah exalt his mention, by following their orders, believing in what they conveyed and refraining from committing what they forbade and worshipping Allah as they clarified and explained.
Therefore, a Muslim should not follow such superstitions and innovations. Allah has mentioned in the Quran that the evidence of loving Him lies in following the Prophet ; Allah Says (what means): {Say (O Muhammad to mankind), if you (really) love Allah, then follow me. Allah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful).} [Quran 3:31]
As regards these superstitions, we should warn people against it, avoid it and do our best to refute them. The Prophet said: "Whoever introduces into this faith of ours (Islam) that which is not a part of it, is to be rejected (and that person is condemned)”. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Allah knows best.
