Question:
What are the guidelines that help us remain on the right path in a non-observant society?
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.
Indeed, the only solution to all the problems is to hold fast to The Book of Allaah The Almighty and follow the Sunnah of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and the way of the righteous predecessors of this Ummah. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that if this Ummah holds fast to The Book of Allaah and his Sunnah, it will never go astray after him. [Maalik]
It should also be known that he who holds fast to his religion at this time and age, when evil has become rampant, will gain a great reward from Allaah. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, informed his companions
that there will come some days where patience will be the best thing that Muslims can do, and patience during such days involves tremendous hardship, similar to that which a person suffers if he was to hold an ember in his palm. He who is patient in these days will gain a reward equal to that of fifty men doing the same deeds on less difficult days. [Abu Daawood, At-Tirmithi and Ibn Maajah] Allaah Knows best.
