Bottles of wine do not affect the purity of the place unless wine is spilled on it

Question:

I went along with my father to visit his Christian friend who insisted on hosting us inside his home. There was a bar, where bottles of wine are kept, near the seat which I used. Then we left and took the car. The question is: Did that place turn my clothes impure? Did this render the car as well as other places which I sat on while wearing these clothes impure? Is the impurity of such places transferred from one place to another?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

Giving the opinion of the majority of scholars that wine is impure, the place where the vessels and bottles of wine are kept is not turned impure unless the wine is spilled out. If that place is not afflicted with wine, it is still pure under Sharee‘ah. Similarly, your clothes are not turned impure unless something of impurity, wine or other, is attached to them.

Please note that all things are pure in principle. What you are suffering from may be mere obsessive whisperings which you have to try to get rid of, otherwise, they may affect both your mind and your religion.

Allaah Knows best.
