Question:
Assalamo alaykom,
Kindly I need clarification about following,
I got job offer in one financial institution that have mix income money of halal and haram (Ribaa). I don’t know much about the percentage of haram compared to halal in total institution wealth. Given that I already have job but not satisfying my financial required needs, please advise me if I could join such financial institution. I have heard from some trusted shaikh that if employer money is mixed of halal and haram than we may work for him, without having to deeply check from which part of money he’s paying to employees.
Kindly advise jazaakomo’llaho khayran.
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
There is no impediment for you to work in this institution, where you do not engage in what is forbidden or help in it.
In this case, the fact that part of the money of the institution is from Riba-based transactions, or it has forbidden transactions, does not harm, as long as one's work is not related to that.
Allah Knows best.
