Using Emojis When Communicating With the Opposite Gender

Question:

Salam. I was informed by a student of knowledge that it is permissible to use emojis with the opposite gender. This student of knowledge 1st said that it is not wise to use with the opposite gender, but then he said it is permissible to use them. Could you kindly inform me all the rulings regarding the usage of emojis with the opposite gender?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

We have already stated that it is permissible to use Emojis in the following Fataawa: 46246, 140498.

We did not find any statements from the scholars about using them between the two opposite genders. However, we have warned women from using these images in a way which can lead to corruption; please refer to the following Fataawa: 249706, 21582.
