Question:
Salam alaikum. Something is bothering me and I need your advice. Basically a couple of years I was looking into praying tahajudd. Now at that time im not sure if I made a vow to Allah swt I will pray tahajudd or I thought to my self I will pray tahajudd everynight for 1 hour. Im not sure either way. Now I am studying to be a doctor in the uk and have been told by lecturers working night shift is essential and cant be avoided for any reason. I was thinking on praying tahajudd anyway incase I did make the vow. But now with me becoming a doctor it has stopped it. What shall i do now?? Just say I did say I will do it but my job requires me to work is that sufficiemt excuse to break it? Would appreciate if you cover both sceneros with your answer.( me not being certain of the vow and also if I was certain made it). Also is it a requirement of tahajjud that you sleep before praying or can I pray without sleeping and it still be called tahajuddJazakAllah in advance may allab swt reward you
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Your question is nothing but a continuation of the series of your whispers that you are affected with. This is not the first question of this kind from you.
Hence, we ask Allah to cure you.
What we can say in brief is that since you have a doubt about initiating a vow, then you are not obliged to fulfill the vow as in principle you are free from liability, and you should not preoccupy yourself with doubt.
In the future, we will be obliged not to answer these kind of questions from you.
It has been proven to us through experience that the questions of people who are affected with whispers are endless. Whenever we answer their questions they again doubt and have whispers about it and ask questions again about the answer, and so on.
Therefore, dear questioner, fear Allah and do not waste our time and yours.
Allah knows best.
