All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Julaybeeb was a man from the Ansar, and the story of his marriage to the daughter of one of the Ansari man was mentioned in Hadeeth and biography books.
The Prophet married him with a woman from the Ansar because he had some features that people shun off from marrying such a person, such as poverty, etc.
This is understood in the context of the story of his marriage as it was reported in the reference books.
Anas narrated: “The Prophet asked a man from the Ansar to marry his daughter to Julaybeeb. The man said: “I will consult with her mother.” And off he went to his wife. “The Prophet wants to have your daughter married to Julaybeeb:, he said to her. She was flabbergasted and shouted” Julaybib, no by Allah, we shall never marry her to Julaybeeb; while we did not marry her to so and so [who were much better than him].”
The daughter overheard the discussion. So the man went to inform the Prophet about that. So the girl said: “Do you refuse the request of the Prophet ? If he is pleased that you marry me off to him, then marry me off to him [I am satisfied and submit myself to whatever the Messenger of Allah deems good for me]. It is as if she relieved her parents from uneasiness. Her parents then said: “You are right.” Then, her father went to the Prophet and said: “If you are pleased with him (as a husband for our daughter) then we accept him.” The Prophet said: “I am pleased with him.” So, she was married to him.
Then the people of Madeenah set out for a battle, and Julaybeeb set out with them on his mount. They found him killed and found around him some polytheists that he had killed.” [End of quote]
As-Seerah al-Halabiyyah (Al-Halabi biography) reads:
“He was short and dull, and the Prophet wanted to marry him. Julaybeeb said: “O Messenger of Allah, I am shunned off in the society.” The Prophet said to him: “You are not shunned in the Sight of Allah.” So, the Prophet asked a girl of one of the Ansari man to marry him. The parents of the girl did not like him. The girl heard what the Prophet wanted and said: “I accept.”; and recited the verse in which Allah Says (what means): {It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair.} [Quran 33:36]…etc.” [End of quote]
Allah knows best.
