All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
A woman inserts medicaments inside her uterus through either one of two ways:
1. Dripping the medicine from outside the uterus.
2. Using a tool such as a syringe and injecting the drug into place.
As for the first way, the woman is required to do nothing unless she touches her private parts or some of the medicine comes outside the vagina. In this case, only Wudhoo’ (ablution) is required. There is no need to take a bath. In the second way, however, she should perform Wudhoo’ only, whether some of the medicine dribbled out of the uterus or not.
Ibn Qudaamah said: “If a person dripped some ointment onto his penis then some of which came out, Wudhoo’ will be nullified, because that thing came out of the penis. Likewise, if he put a stick or similar object into the penis and then it came out, Wudhoo’ will be nullified, because it came out of the penis too. All these are treated like the rest of fluids that normally come out of the excretory organs.”
Similarly, Wudhoo’ of the pregnant woman would be invalidated if a female doctor or another woman inserted her hand into her womb for a medical check-up.
Allaah Knows best.
