All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
It is appropriate to remind you here of a general rule by which one can issue a ruling on many customs of the people, which is that in principle all customs are permissible and nothing is forbidden from them except if there is an Islamic reason. For instance, if they involve a forbidden matter, such as being related to certain beliefs, such as bringing luck, bringing happiness, and expelling demons, then they are among the habits of Jaahilyyah (the Pre-Islamic era of ignorance) and are forbidden for this reason. The same goes if they involve imitating non-Muslims in matters that are peculiar to them, and not in a habit that is common between them and the Muslims. For more benefit, please refer to fatwas 99480 and 116441.
As regards a woman wearing earrings in her nose, then this is permissible, as we have already explained in fatwa 85723.
For more benefit, please refer to fatwa 127729.
Allah knows best.
