Question:
Assalaamu alaykum. I need some advise. My job is to install a system to increase sales for my clients websites. All my clients are personal injury attorneys in Western countries. Is my income haram given that some of their actions go against Islam? For example, the swear by something other than Allaah, and they help the victim to get maximum compensation money from the victim's insurance company. I do not know if the attorneys that I am working for are taking an oath in court every time that I send them clients and if they help the victim to get compensation money from the guilty party's insurance company because the system is automatic. I hope you can answer my question, Shaykh. Thank you
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
The possibilities and assumptions that you mentioned do not forbid what you do of installing the system in reference as long as the nature of your work is lawful in itself and the business for which the system will be used is legitimate. The fact that some lawyers may commit errors such as making false oaths, defending falsehood, and the like does not affect the validity of your work. They bear the sin for their actions; Allaah, The Exalted, says (what means): {And whoever commits a sin only earns it against himself. And Allaah is ever Knowing and Wise.} [Quran 4:111]
Allaah knows best.
