All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
After careful research, we could not find this report to which you referred as a hadeeth in the sources and references available to us. In fact, it is neither an authentic nor a weak hadeeth. Hence, you should beware of circulating such reports before verifying their authenticity. The Prophet, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, said, “Whoever narrates a hadeeth from me thinking it to be false, then he is one of the liars.” [Muslim, Ahmad, At-Tirmithi and Ibn Maajah - Al-Albaani graded it saheeh (sound)]
Ibn Hibbaan wrote in the introduction of his book Al-Majrooheen, “The general indication of this hadeeth applies to whoever narrates a report while doubting that it is authentically attributable to the Prophet, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam.”
Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami was once asked about an imaam who deliverers the Friday sermon every Friday narrating many ahaadeeth without identifying their sources or chain of narrators. He answered:
“It is permissible for him to narrate ahaadeeth without stating their sources and chains of narration provided that he is knowledgeable of the science of hadeeth or that he is citing them from a hadeeth book whose author is knowledgeable of the science of hadeeth. As for narrating reports merely because they are cited in books that are not composed by scholars of hadeeth or mentioned in sermons delivered by lecturers who are not knowledgeable in this area of Islamic knowledge, this is impermissible. Whoever does so should be subject to severe discretionary punishment (taʻzeer).” [Al-Fataawa Al-Hadeethiyyah]
