Question:

1. What is the Greatest name of Allaah?
2. What is the reward for carrying a coffin at a funeral?
3. If a person supplicates to Allaah when seeing the Ka‘bah to teach him His Greatest Name, will Allaah answer his supplication?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

Scholars differ on what the Greatest Name of Allaah is, however the predominant opinion is that it is “Allaah.”

As for carrying a coffin, following a funeral procession and burying the deceased, these acts deserve a great reward. On the authority of Abu Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with him the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, stated that whoever follows a funeral procession and performs the funeral prayer at it then departs, will have a great reward that is equal to a mountain; and that whoever follows it, performs a funeral prayer at it and stays until the burial is finished, will be granted a double reward. [Muslim and An-Nasaa’i]

Whoever supplicates to Allaah at the Ka‘bah to fulfill a legitimate matter for him, we hope that Allaah will answer his supplication, for he supplicates in the holiest place on earth in a state of humbleness and humility to Allaah, which are reasons for making the supplication more prone to be answered. Whoever supplicates to Allaah at this time and place, Allaah the Almighty will respond to him if He Wills, provided that there are no impediments for responding to the supplication.

Allaah Knows best.
