Question:
What are the conditions of the perfect acceptable intercession [with Allaah The Almighty]? Please provide evidence.
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.
There are three conditions that must be met in order for intercession to be accepted:
-
The pleasure of Allaah with the intercessor.
-
The pleasure of Allaah with the person being interceded for.
-
The permission of Allaah for the intercessor to intercede.
This is supported by the Sayings of Allaah (which mean):
-
{And how many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession will not avail at all except [only] after Allaah has permitted [it] to whom He wills and approves.} [Quran 53:26]
-
{That Day, no intercession will benefit except [that of] one to whom the Most Merciful has given permission and has accepted his word.} [Quran 20:109]
-
{Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?} [Quran 2:255]
Allaah Knows best.
